These earrings draw inspiration from a pair of filigree buttons made in Colombia or Ecuador in the 1800s. Fancy buttons were usually not sown onto clothing, instead were elaborated as cuff links so they could be transferred from one garment to another.
The original pieces are preserved in the Denver Art Museum.
Earrings are handmade out of .950 silver in Colombia by an artisan specialized in Spanish Colonial filigree technique.
